Five Minute Friday: Dare You To
I fangirled when I had the opportunity to meet Katie McGarry at BEA in May, especially since Pushing the Limits was one of my favorite reads in 2012. I was DYING to read Dare to You, because I wanted to know what happened to Noah and Echo. I quickly discovered that Dare to You wasn’t going to be about these characters, but would be Beth’s story. This made me even more excited to read!
Pushing the Limits (Pushing the Limits #1)
Dare You To (Pushing the Limits #2)
WHAT DID I THINK?
Who is Beth? Beth lives with her aunt, because her alcoholic mother can’t take care of her and the drug dealer boyfriend beat them both. She has found friendship, if not family, in Noah and Isaiah. They’re all rough-drink, swear, smoke pot, have tattoos and piercings-but none of these characters is as hard to like as Beth is. She has built walls so high, no one can see over them. That is until her life falls apart and she’s forced to live with her Uncle Scott. This is where Ryan comes in. A jock who asks Beth out on a dare.
I was absolutely enthralled by Beth’s story. The more I got to know her, as the bricks of her walls came crumbling down, the more I liked her. I could actually see myself in her. I was definitely not disappointed in this story! Now, I am even more excited to read Isaiah’s story Crash into You!
